Got an RFE to produce employment verification letter from my current employer. Yes, i changed the employer recently but didn't file AC-21.

AFAIK, everybody needs to fill out form I-9.

I'm going to use EAD under 1099 as an independent contractor, My employer asked me to fill only w-9 form when i joined the company.
My employer doesnt know whether i should fill I-9 form (employment verification eligibility) or not?

I would like to take a quick poll to find number of people who have filed their 485 when they were single and got married later.
The idea is to get a rough number or percentage of people stuck in this boat in the IV community. This would help to start a proposal for a small fix (either admin or legislative) to be passed on to be included as an item in IV's agenda. Believe there are many families stuck in the EB2 of retrogressed countries and many more in all of Eb3 categories who can benefit from a such an initiative.
Here are the options in the Poll:
1. Married; I-485 Filed for everyone in the family at the same time.
2. Married; I-485 filed separately for spouse/ dependent at a later date.
3. Married; yet to file I-485 for spouse/ dependent.
4. Single; yet to get married but filed for 485.

Will the core team be sharing their strategy for 2007 with the members?
I don't think core is going to spill it's strategy on the forum for world to see. I would suggest you to join local chapter to know how things will be performed. :)

Thanks for replying back. I dont think we would need a change in legislaturel for USCIS to start accepting i-485 applications, when the PD's are not current. I'm sure there must be a way we are just not thinking differently. If we were talking about getting the GC, then yes we would need a change in the legislative process via or bill and so the hopes from CIR. Currently EAD does not mandate a need to prove an employer-employee relationship during renewal or issuance as in the case of a H-1B application.

Here is the situation:
I-485 is pending
H1 Visa will expire on July 31, 2009 (extension is being filled now)
AP is pending for 6 months with no end in sight...
No EAD
Need to travel in end of June for a month:
my question is
Can I travel on AP when my H1 petition is pending?? (I do not expect that I will get it before I leave, it took more than 6 months last time). I read in many places that if you apply for H1 petition you cannot leave till it is approved, is that true???

Guys,
After a long time I am logging into IV board. It was difficult period. Moved from TX to VA During January start. It took long to get me a good "matching" job and had to move on EAD. Sent the "proof of employment letter" to lawyer for AC21 notification.

Can the core group let us know what are they targeting right now? Are they targeting CIR next month? The lack of direction will really lead to less contribution. Without that,I will have a hard time convincing other friends about IV.
Have the core members given up and decreased their activity?
Core group is working hard and is commited despite lack of full support and nagative comments they get on this site or other sites. Work will go on no matter what.
Pls join your state chapter to know what we are doing and speak with us directly and get direction. You will also get updates.
In your CA state chapter there was a conference call tonight and I was invited. I joined in and only the organizer and myself were there. There was nobody else there. We both spoke for one hour and I gave update to that member because I felt that I should value a commited member who is willing to make an effort and will be willing to do the work even if it means doing it alone without help from fellow members. We request members to help themselves by helping us and we can all togeher achieve our aims.

My I-140 was sent on July, 28th to TSC. I did not yet receive any receipt number. How long does it take to get the receipt number once I-140 is applied?
I received my Receipt in 6 Days. Applied on 21th June and Receipt on 27th June. But still in process at Nebraska Service Center.

Could you all please give me an opinion on this situation? I am trying to ask my lawyer, but I won't know for a few days and this is disturbing me a lot!
I am on H1, 7th year extension. My Labor just got approved. About to file 140. Now my project has apparently lost funding and the employer is offering me a temp job for 6 months till my 140 gets approved so I can use the approved 140 and move. But the catch is the new job requires a new H1 - different job description and pay. Will this affect my 140 filed with the old H1?

I-140 belongs to the employer only, so it is up-to them to disclose the details. Unless you change employer without using AC21 clause, I-140 details won't be necessary.

I redone it following Kirupa advice (still kept the name though :)) and done the writing part pixel by pixel.
